The next Colloquium of the Astronomical Observatory will be held on Wednesday, April 22, at 1 PM in the Library.
Speaker: Prof. dr Marija Dimitrijević-Ćirić from the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade
Topic: Noncommutative spacetime and physics beyond Standard Model
Resume: The Standard Model of particle physics is an exceptionally successful theoretical framework, yet it does not provide a complete description of fundamental physics. This motivates the study of approaches that extend or deform the conventional structure of spacetime and quantum field theory. In this talk, I will introduce the basic ideas of noncommutative geometry and discuss noncommutative field theories, in particular noncommutative deformations of the Standard Model of particle physics. I will outline the construction of such models and discuss some of their phenomenological consequences, with particular emphasis on possible signatures of physics beyond the Standard Model.
