First Chinese-Serbian Seminar on Aerospace Technologies and Industrial Applications

The event was organized on Wednesday, 17 December 2025 in the Belt and Road Institute in Belgrade, within the framework of advancing the strategic partnership between the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China. New technologies and innovations today represent one of the most powerful drivers of economic growth. Particularly significant is the potential of applying space technologies in precision agriculture, urban mobility, infrastructure monitoring, environmental protection, and energy systems. The integration of satellite data, geoinformation platforms, and autonomous systems creates the foundations for smart cities, more efficient use of resources, and increased economic competitiveness, while the development of domestic technical knowledge and capacities for designing and producing satellites represents the basis for the strategic progress of the state and competitiveness at the global level.

Leading experts from the Harbin Institute of Technology, one of the world’s foremost institutions for aerospace engineering, spoke at the seminar:

  • Prof. Yuqing Li, leading researcher in intelligent aerospace systems, participated in more than 100 national research projects, author of over 40 scientific papers and more than 20 patents.
  • Prof. Minqiang Xu, pioneer in autonomous space systems and intelligent diagnostics, author of over 120 scientific papers and recipient of numerous national awards.
  • Dr. Xiao’en Feng, internationally recognized researcher in intelligent mission planning, multi-agent systems, and autonomous space operations.

Their presence in Belgrade was an exceptional opportunity for knowledge exchange and networking with scientists who are at the forefront of global research in space technologies.

Several representatives of the ministries of the Republic of Serbia, as well as leading experts from universities and the industry sector, also participated. The ministry representatives were:

  • Prof. Dragan Glamočić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, Government of the Republic of Serbia
  • Dr. Marija Gnjatović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation
  • Dr. Ivica Đalović, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia

Among the invited lecturers were:

  • Prof. Boris Dumnić, Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN), University of Novi Sad
  • Prof. Miroslav Popović, Computer Engineering and Computer Communications, University of Novi Sad
  • Prof. Ivana Todić, Department of Weapons Systems, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade
  • Dr. Milan Stojanović, Astronomical Observatory

The moderators and organizers of the seminar were:

  • Prof. Bojan Lalić, Director of the Belt and Road Institute, Republic of Serbia
  • Prof. Miodrag Đukić, Computer Engineering and Computer Communications, University of Novi Sad

Dr. Milan Stojanović participated as an invited lecturer at the First Chinese-Serbian Seminar on Aerospace Technologies and Industrial Applications, held on 17 December 2025 at the premises of the Belt and Road Institute in Belgrade. He presented the Astronomical Observatory, its projects and scientific groups, as well as the project of the first Serbian scientific satellite, MOZAIK. During the lecture, he also announced the conference that the Astronomical Observatory will hold on 12 May at the Niš Science and Technology Park, titled “1st Conference on Space Science and Technology in Serbia.” This announcement and the invitation for participation drew significant attention from those present and later led to a very positive discussion.

After the successful completion of the seminar, on the following day, 18 December 2025, representatives of the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) visited the Astronomical Observatory, where they were received by the Director of the Observatory, Prof. Luka Popović. The guests took part in a discussion regarding the possibilities of cooperation between the Observatory and HIT, potential student exchange, participation in projects, and similar topics. After the meeting, all HIT representatives toured the Astronomical Observatory in Belgrade.
