Celebration of Vojislav V. Mišković, the Builder of the Astronomical Observatory on Zvezdara

At the Astronomical Observatory complex in Belgrade, a gathering titled "Vojislav V. Mišković – Builder of the Astronomical Observatory on Zvezdara" was held, dedicated to the memory of the former director of this institution, during whose tenure the building that houses the observatory today was constructed.

In the pavilion of the large refractor, an exhibition titled “Journey Among the Stars – Vojislav Mišković and Miodrag Ibrovac” was opened. It is dedicated to the connection between two academicians, Vojislav Mišković and Miodrag Ibrovac, from the time of the First World War, when Mišković was still a student, and Ibrovac was appointed by the state as the supervisor of Serbian students studying in France, as well as their later collaboration. The authors of the exhibition are MSc Natalija Janc, Ana Jelić, and Vesna Mijatović, and it was organized by the Museum of the Rudnik–Takovo Region and the Astronomical Observatory.

At the entrance of the Administration Building, a bust of Vojislav Mišković was unveiled. The bust is made in the same style as that of Milan Nedeljković, which was previously created, and it was placed to the right of the library door, thereby achieving visual symmetry. The current and former directors of the observatory, as well as the sculptor Vladislava Krstić, who created both busts were present at the event.

In the presentation part of the conference, over two days, details from the life and work of Vojislav Mišković were presented. The presentations were given by Slobodan Ninković, Vesna Mijatović, Milan Dimitrijević, Natalija Janc, Marija Šegan Radonjić, Žarko Mijajlović, Zoran Knežević, Luka Popović, and Srđan Samurović.

The event was covered by media outlets Una, TV Pink, and Russia Today.
