Researchers from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna officially visited Serbia and as part of this visit they also visited the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade.
On the first day of the visit (July 6, 2026), researchers led by Academician Grigory Trubnikov, Director of the Institute, participated in the conference "Days of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Serbia" held in the Belgrade Science Technology Park. This event brought together representatives of the world scientific community, members of the Serbian innovation ecosystem and representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Among other things, the organization of the Institute was presented at the meeting, and the participants exchanged opinions and considered directions for further cooperation through panels and discussions. The Director of the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory, Prof. Dr. Luka Č. Popović, also participated in the work of this conference.

On the second day of their stay in Belgrade (July 7, 2026), prominent researchers led by Dr. Sergey Kulikov, Deputy Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, visited the Astronomical Observatory. Director of the Belgrade Observatory Prof. dr Luka Č. Popović presented the work of the Astronomical Observatory from its very beginnings, emphasizing the research currently being carried out at the Observatory. In the discussion with colleagues from Dubna, ways of further expanding existing cooperation were considered, as well as starting new joint projects. At the end of the visit, the guests visited the Pavilions of the Large and Small Refractors and became acquainted with the observational activities that were carried out with the help of these telescopes.
