Astronomical observatory at the opening of the University, "Dr. Humberto Fernández-Moran" in Venezuela

The Astronomical Observatory participated in the First International Congress of "Scientific Convergence for a Shared Future" held in Caracas, Venezuela, on May 29-30, 2025. The occasion for the meeting was the opening of the University of Sciences "Dr. Humberto Fernández-Moran", named after the prominent Venezuelan scientist.

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, opened academic activities at this university as part of the congress. In his address, President Maduro expressed satisfaction with the international alliance with Russia, China, Cuba, Iran, Serbia, Vietnam, among others, in order to unify models and methods of scientific work.
 
A representative from the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory, Dr. Natasa Todorovic, delivered a lecture "From the classroom to the stars", on the importance of astronomy as a science, to the conference participants and future university students, followed by questions from the students.
 
In addition to participating in the congress, the two-member delegation from Serbia, Dr Nataša Todorović and Dr Vuk Vujović, held meetings with Gabriela Jimenez, the Minister of Science of Venezuela, during which they discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the academic institutions of Serbia and Venezuela. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Serbia to Venezuela, Katarina Andrić.
